ICONICS Energy Analytics Leverages StreamInsight Technology |
| 11 th May 2010, 10:30 |
ICONICS a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner of the Year, and provider of Web-enabled, OPC-based, HMI/SCADA Visualization and Manufacturing Intelligence software for Microsoft Windows® operating systems, announced the use of Microsoft StreamInsight technology as an integral part of its Energy Analytics solution.
Energy Analytics, the “green” component to the BizViz family of analytic solutions, assists companies with energy conservation efforts by offering actionable intelligence that helps users make better decisions for the future. This information will allow building owners to reduce energy consumption, aggregate and summarize energy usage by location, and forecast energy costs over time. With costs of energy increasing, the need for such a solution has never been greater. Energy Analytics helps companies reduce their overall carbon footprint through optimization of energy consumption and assists companies in meeting LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards. Users gain insight into energy consumption patterns, correlate information using Microsoft SharePoint integrated dashboards, and “dollarize” energy usage data to optimize asset utilization.

Cully Automation Delivers Telemetry Project |
| 9 th July 2009, 09:26 |
Cully Automation, leading integrators in the Irish Water and Wastewater industry, supply countywide telemetry project for an Irish Local Authority using ICONICS solutions, GENESIS32, AlarmWorX, AlarmWorX Multimedia and WebHMI.
This project uses six WebHMI servers, one in each regional office, to gather information from a network of PLC and low power radio nodes. The Local Authority will use this information to view the flow of water countywide, monitor and alarm of high flows, reservoir levels, water quality issues and will eventually control pumps and motorised valves throughout the county.
The Local Authority will benefit from thin client connectivity using WebHMI, and will be able to view all their graphical information displays, trends and alarms through a web browser. The addition of AlarmWorX Multimedia to this solution ensures that any triggered alarms can be distributed to the right people via a number of communication methods including phone and email.
Cully Automation chose to recommend GENESIS32 for this project based on their excellent and longstanding relationship with ICONICS UK and because they knew that the solution could handle the complex needs and requirements of their client.

Applying OPC-UA as a Competitive Advantage Webcast |
| 29 th May 2008, 11:40 |
| Spend an informative hour with OPC-UA Industry leaders and experts as they present a complete understanding of OPC-UA and demonstrate how quick and easy it is to configure an OPC-UA solution.
OPC-UA was designed to easily move information from the factory floor to the enterprise by leveraging existing OPC specifications and integrating them together. Web Services is the key technology enabler for the new architecture and enables deployment of widely dispersed applications across LANs, WANs, Intranets and the Internet.
Tom Burke with the OPC Foundation will discuss the background on OPC-UA and how its adoption into the marketplace is going. He will also highlight how the OPC Foundation recently started to allow OPC solution vendors to release products based on the technology. Experts predict that by the end of this year, you will see several vendors with products in the marketplace based on OPC-UA technology, including products for the embedded systems marketplace and products that support information exchange between control systems and IT. This Webcast will also highlight what to look for when selecting an OPC-UA solution.
Roy Kok with Kepware and Russ Agrusa with ICONICS will review the latest OPC-UA clients and servers available and demonstrate the first integrated, end-to-end OPC-UA solution available in the marketplace. The “ICONICS OPC-UA KEPServer” combines HMI/SCADA and visualization with a rich library of device connectivity from Kepware. This OPC-UA, 64-bit solution handles several different I/O devices and is certified for Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. The solution is truly OPC-UA-To-The-Core™ and uses Web Services technology, making it simple to integrate plant floor visualization with Manufacturing Intelligence and Enterprise solutions.

DCOM problems with Windows XP SP2 known Microsoft bug |
| 1 st December 2004, 11:50 |
| It has been discovered that DCOM problems may occur in Windows XP Service Pack 2 after some installations. This is a known Microsoft bug. Please read the app note to fix this problem.
Symptoms:
Machine boots and immediately starts acting strange: the start menu and task bar either don’t work or act strange, applications won’t dock to the task bar, DCOMCNFG (amongst other programs) won’t work, and applications won’t talk to each other. In general, the machine gives the appearance of a virus attack or total corruption.
Cause:
After the Windows XP SP2 upgrade, the DCOM Default Launch permissions may not be correct (and possibly corrupted). This might not show up until a specific set of events happen (possibly such as editing the DCOM settings in a specific way) after the upgrade occurs.
